Interview by Richard Blade

RB: Dave, youre back in Los Angeles. How long you gonna be here for?

DG: Uhhhmm, Ive got about a months break.

RB: And then its back to London for more recording?

DG: Um no, were going t go to New York for a while... um... and then back to London, and then back to New York. But weve, weve like recorded three songs, roughly, and its really different, but its... Alan left of course so we... weve brought in Tim Simenon and hes really good, um... We were in...

RB: From Living Color, right?

DG: Um no, that was Doug Wimbish, the bass player, mate. And he played with us and stuff and Gozer as well, the drummer from Soul II Soul... um... We usually love [or something like that] the musicians in this band. And me and Martin are getting on really well, and Fletch, um. I, I want thank, while weve got the chance, everybody that sent me letters, um after, um I did what I did, which was very silly. Um, but um it was it, was amazing it made me feel a lot better and um, back to the record biz. We hope to get it, be out in October, you know, its really good Richard.

RB: I cant tell you how many calls I get a week asking how you doing, hows the band doing, and when can they get something from you. I mean people really love you still.

DG: Well, Ill tell you what. One thing I can say about the stuff were recording, its Depeche Mode fans, fans like, its like what they understand about Depeche Mode, its in the bedroom with their headphones on, crying your eyes out.

RB: Heh heh.

RB: And when do you think we can, uhhh, get something from you, actually on CD?

DG: As soon as I get, get something mixed Ill be in your office.

RB: Are you gonna be up for a tour?

DG: I dont think, weve got no plans at the moment, maybe a few little shows here and there, but the tour took its toll on us all, a lot. Um, and we decided to, with this record, to do something different, do different ways of letting people know about our record, and um, [weve all got] families, things going on, you know.

RB: Yeah, now with shows like this, with all the bands together, would you consider doing one of these?

DG: Yeah, [I think] something like this could be cool.

RB: Like the Weenie Roast in June?

DG: Im not saying nothing. Ive got to go Richard.

RB: All right Dave.

DG: I, Ill talk to you again though.
